MEET JOHN
John Mixson, co-founder of SAR DOG Industries, brings over 30 years of aviation and maritime experience across the U.S. Coast Guard, Air National Guard, and airline industry. A Boeing 787 International Pilot for a legacy carrier, he combines operational expertise with a passion for safety, leadership, and risk management. John’s diverse background includes service as a Search and Rescue (SAR) aviator, responding to major disasters such as Hurricane Katrina, the Haitian earthquake, and Deepwater Horizon. His missions spanned humanitarian relief, counter-narcotics, and maritime security operations throughout the Caribbean and Eastern Pacific.

As a seasoned aviation safety consultant and speaker, he has contributed to accident investigations, safety management systems, and leadership training for both military and civilian organizations. For over 15 years, he has also provided expert commentary to international TV, radio, and print media on aviation and disaster response. A graduate of Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, USC’s Aviation Safety Program, and the Naval Postgraduate School, John holds more than 10,000 flight hours in aircraft ranging from the C-130 and MH-60J to the Boeing 787. Through SAR DOG Industries, he merges his passions for aviation, maritime operations, and service, offering nautical apparel, aviation safety consulting, and USCG captain services built on integrity, precision, and realworld experience.
